Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services (APS) responds to the need of Union County's vulnerable adults — i.e., those over 18 who are abused, neglected, or exploited, and who, because of physical or mental disability, are unable to act on their own to address these conditions. An APS program manager and clinical caseworkers screen referrals for appropriateness via telephone. They then conduct an in-home assessment within three working days to evaluate allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation and determine levels of functioning and risk. They provide case management as appropriate to decrease risk of further abuse, neglect, or exploitation. This program is partially funded through a grant from the Union County Department of Human Services' Division on Aging.
