Donate Stocks or Securities

A gift of appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can be a very cost-effective alternative to a cash gift. Your donation of long-term holdings to Catholic Charities is eligible for a charitable deduction for the full fair-market value, subject to Internal Revenue Service deduction limits. You can also avoid the capital gains taxes on any profit earned.

To make a gift of securities:

  • Please contact us in advance detailing the security and number of shares you plan to give, as electronic transfers are made without identifying the donor. E-mail us at jwestervelt@ccannj.org, or call the Development Office.

  • Please provide your broker with the following information to initiate the electronic transfer:

Account name: Catholic Community Services Account #2
Account number: 770-04325
DTC number: 5198
Broker Information: Merrill Lynch – (877) 380-1048
Catholic Charities tax-identification number: 22-2164120
