Family & Adoption Services

WHO CAN ADOPT?

Catholic Charities can assist New Jersey residents to adopt internationally if at least one applicant is a U.S. citizen and applicant(s) are between the ages of 22 to 50 (to adopt an infant).

Individual countries have their own policies and requirements regarding age; marital status; income; health and criminal history clearances. While most countries prefer married couples, there are a few countries that remain open to single people, generally single women. For additional information visit the general requirements of each country on the international adoption chart or check the country fact sheets listed under each country. It is also possible to receive a pre-approval from a country in cases where there is a question or concern about your eligibility.
